On January 15th, First United Methodist Church in Georgetown presented a $6,142 check to our Meals on Wheels location in Georgetown (the Madella Hilliard Senior Center). First United Methodist Church’s “Contemporary Forum” Sunday School Class, which consists mostly of senior adults themselves, organized this donation for the local Meals on Wheels program.
In 2020, our Madella Hilliard Senior Center served over 55,000 meals, serving over 2,200 home delivered meal clients alone in the Georgetown area. With the help of hundreds of loyal volunteers, Opportunities for Williamson and Burnet Counties’ Meals on Wheels program in Georgetown is able to make a positive, impactful difference in the community. With generous donations from organizations like First United Methodist Church, our program is further able to assist our senior clients in need.
Kelsey Ward, the Site Director at Madella Hilliard Senior Center, said, “We are so honored that Dr. Dawning’s Sunday School class thought of us here at Meals on Wheels. Monetary donations are so, so important to non-profit organizations, especially now when so many seniors in our community are food insecure.”
Sincere thanks to First United Methodist Church of Georgetown’s Contemporary Forum class for this contribution. To learn more about how you can give back to Meals on Wheels, please visit www.owbc-tx.org/development.
