IKEA in Round Rock has been a community partner that has especially shined during 2020. When we hear that one of our clients is in desperate need of an item, we know we can call Natasha at IKEA for immediate assistance.
This was the case with one of our Meals on Wheels seniors. He has been sleeping in a chair in his small travel trailer, and lives on a very limited income. Knowing this particular senior’s situation is another benefit of the Meals on Wheels program. It is a well check. When meals are delivered Monday through Friday, our friendly volunteers are able to uncover any needs or issues that may arise. If the need is something we can assist with, then we work on finding a way to fill that need.
This week, Natasha from IKEA personally delivered a brand new mattress and bedding for this local Meals on Wheels senior. She also brought along some toys and books for our families in need.
Lauren McAndrews, our Director of Development, said, “IKEA has become such a valued and incredible partner. The mattress you have donated will allow one of our Meals on Wheels gentlemen to sleep in a bed for the first time in a very long time. This gift will allow him to rest comfortably and is simply incredible. The toys and books will be shared with our Head Start children and Community Services families. Thank you for helping us help our neighbors in need.”
