Georgetown Health Foundation awards grants annually to organizations in Georgetown that meet residents’ basic needs for food, shelter, and social health. This year, OWBC’s Meals on Wheels program is the recipient of a $50,000 grant. This funding is intended to serve Meals on Wheels seniors in the Georgetown area by providing hot, nutritious noontime meals to homebound and congregate senior residents in need.
With this grant funding, our Meals on Wheels site in Georgetown, the Madella Hilliard Senior Center, is able to continue meeting the needs of our Georgetown seniors. As the local Meals on Wheels kitchen in Georgetown, we serve almost 60,000 meals annually to seniors in the Georgetown community. Funding like this ensures we have the supplies and materials necessary to continue feeding our local seniors nutritious meals.
Georgetown Health Foundation’s mission is to generate and accelerate positive change in our community’s health. According to their mission philosophy, they work in collaboration with the community to improve the health of Georgetown residents by means of partnerships and funding.
