On January 20th, thirty of our seniors living in Highview Retirement Village in Marble Falls were able to receive their first COVID-19 vaccination on site. Today, those seniors received their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccination.
In early January, Walgreens offered to come vaccinate homebound seniors. Many of our senior neighbors in Highview Retirement Village were interested in receiving the vaccination to protect themselves against COVID-19, and Walgreens scheduled two days to perform the two doses. Most vaccinations were completed in the community center at Highview, but the representative from Walgreens was able to take the vaccination directly to a handful of homebound seniors, as well.
Some of the seniors who reside in Highview Retirement Village are clients in our Meals on Wheels program. When we spoke with three ladies receiving the vaccine, they shared that they were thrilled to have the opportunity.
One senior noted, “I don’t want to take the chance of getting the virus. It’s very convenient to have the opportunity to receive the vaccine here.”
