Earlier this year, OWBC applied for grant funding in response to the COVID-19 crisis. Since the pandemic started hitting Texas hard in March, we have experienced a significant increase in the need for support as individuals and families lost work hours, employment, and a sense of security. This grant was written with the hope of providing family and individual emergency relief and hunger relief.
Our Director of Development, Lauren McAndrews, notated, “With the current pandemic, we are seeking emergency assistance to help feed local families and home-bound seniors during this difficult time. We are seeking funding to support our emergency relief efforts. If granted funding, our agency would use the money to purchase additional shelf stable meals, home necessities including baby wipes, diapers (for both adults and children) and safety supplies for staff who are committed to serving those most vulnerable.”
This September, we received the $15,000 grant.
“On behalf of our Randalls stores in Williamson County, I just want to say we are so happy to be able to provide some help during this trying time in our history! I am so thrilled we were able to approve the grant request for $15,000.00,” said Christy Lara, Director of PR & Communications for the Albertsons Companies Foundation.
