Opportunities for Williamson and Burnet Counties (OWBC) has numerous senior nutrition kitchens located throughout Williamson and Burnet Counties that serve our congregate seniors on site. Amidst COVID-19, the congregates sites have all been closed out of safety for both our seniors and our staff.
Within the last few weeks, the staff at the Allen R. Baca Center and the City of Round Rock Parks and Recreation, have banded together to help us get meals to our congregate seniors, who would typically come to the site for their daily meals, Monday through Friday. They have voluntarily been delivering meals to our senior neighbors in need.
Sharla Mikeska is the Site Manager for Senior Nutrition in Round Rock. Sharla commented, “I would like to thank the City of Round Rock Parks and Recreation and all Baca Center staff that has helped deliver meals to our Seniors in need. This is a huge task and it has been such a blessing to have their help. It warms my heart to see the community come together to help during this time.”
